I’m sitting here in the living room of our Caloundra cottage listening to the clock tick and watching the geckos peek inside the windows. It’s the eve of my first-born’s 5th birthday!! How is that even possible? I remember that day so vividly still. After a long 36 hour labor, he finally made his grand debut and we were thrilled to find out a boy would be the start of our family.
I’ve always been amazed at his desire to do good. He was the perfect baby–hardly fussy, great eater, amazing sleeper. And even into his toddler years his hesitant nature kept him from causing giant messes and tantrums that we’ve seen from the other two. He was a slow talker (we even had him do therapy a few times, but we laugh now because he is quite the story teller and always has something to say.) He has developed a love for learning and has started reading some easy books.
He loves: playing soccer, baseball, and hockey; candy; watching movies; vaccuming, telling stories, going on adventures, reading books, and cooking; playing with friends, going to primary and making us laugh.
Funny recent phrases: “Evelyn, I’ve told you 100 times. Stop talking and I won’t ask again” – as she chats his ears off at bedtime. “Mom, I don’t want to go back to Utah.” “Guys, I’ve got a great idea…” “Here’s the plan…” “Mom, I’ll let you sleep with me tonight.”
Happy Birthday Blakester! The two of us snuck away tonight for a mommy-Blake date and had so much fun playing tag, exploring the tide pools, eating popsicles, picking out his birthday dessert at Aldi, and getting a few photos at this wall we found near King’s beach. We love you!
