Father’s Day Flop

June 22, 2016

Father’s Day was a flop, but it didn’t start out that way.

We kicked off the celebrations with a pool party with the Sundays on Saturday. My children sure love their cousins and the time they get to spend with them. I’m very grateful for Brandon’s dad and how he taught him to work hard in all aspects of life.

Brandon got some free REAL soccer tickets and so him and his dad got to go to that Saturday night. As hard as I try, I’m just not that into REAL, so for once Brandon got to have more in depth soccer conversation.

Sunday morning is when the flop began. I got up a little early to make him his requested breakfast of eggs, bacon, and blueberry muffins. Since we’ve been trying to eat healthier lately, I attempted to make muffins from scratch. Well, the first batch turned out fine, but rather blah. As I was baking them, Evelyn dumped the egg shells into the scrambled eggs. I started another batch of muffins, but meanwhile overcooked the eggs.

The bacon was outside cooking and after the 2nd batch of muffins was not very tasty either, I decided to try a 3rd recipe that would actually taste yummy. In between all of this, all 3 kids were awake at this time, screaming for breakfast and me trying to scramble (literally and figuratively) to finish breakfast before Brandon got home from a farewell.

By this point, I had forgotten to flip the bacon, so it got overdone as well.

As we sat down for breakfast , I was stressed to the max, but we both laughed as we continued to find egg shells in our bites of egg.

Lesson learned: next year, I will buy a muffin mix and Simply Orange juice, bag being healthy, and enjoy a more peaceful morning spending great time with our favorite Dad.
