Tomorrow’s the day- Blake starts kindergarten! I’m full of so many emotions. I’m sad to be losing our freedom and flexibility. I’m sad to not be homeschooling him. (I prayed and thought long and hard about this one! But it just didn’t feel right at this moment in time. Maybe some day!) I’m going to miss having him around. But, I’m so excited to see him progress and learn and make friends. After all, I absolutely loved school and hope he finds the same joy I did.
Tonight we had our Back to School Backwards Dinner! We ate dessert first (apple cupcakes that Evelyn and Blake helped me make) and then ate baked homemade mac n’cheese and apple beer and veggies. They were thrilled to eat dessert first! Dad even dressed backwards for the event.
Last year, we memorized “Learn of me and listen to my words. Walk in the meekness of my spirit and you shall find peace in me.” I was so proud of Blake and Evelyn for memorizing this and we would recite it almost every night at bed time ! I’m amazed at how sharp their minds can be at a young age.
This year, I felt inspired to have us memorize and use this scripture as our focus: As we enter this new phase of our family’s story, we need to have courage and faith and the Lord will be with all of us!
“Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid… he will not fail thee nor forsake thee.” – Deut. 31:6
