We had our own family Cinco de Mayo fiesta since it was still too early to have anyone over due to Covid-19. But yes, we still started the day off with some mariachi music. Haha.
My favorite part of the day was gathering around the kitchen table to decorate paper bag pinatas. One thing this pandemic has taught me is to be creative and use up things I have. Usually I would have run out to the store to buy a pinata and candy, but this year, we used what we already had– lunch bags, some crepe paper, and leftover Easter candy. But I think they were just as pleased with their own pinata as a fancy one.
Plus, it was fun to see their personalities come through as they decorated it.
We ate tacos for dinner, made some churros, and then did the pinatas in the tree since I was still in the middle of my patio painting project.
