Thanks to Brandon’s parents who were kind enough to watch our kids, Brandon and I got to escape for a few days. Coronavirus craziness has made me a bit stir crazy. I’ve also been working through some trauma I experienced as a teen with a counselor and it’s been quite emotional. So this weekend was just perfect. Just me and B with no agenda, no demands, and a mix of relaxation, adventure, and lots of sleep.
Our first stop was the Poppy Fields in Mantua at the Box Elder Campground. I’ve wanted to go visit them for years now and the timing of them in bloom couldn’t have been better.
We hiked the Crimson Trail. 3 glorious hours of hiking along the rim, gorgeous views, conversation, sunshine, tears, and hugs. I love this guy so much and how supportive he’s been lately.
Brandon gets 5 stars for finding our 5-star accomodations– a renovated barn turned b&b. Not only was it quite charming, our host made us a gourmet breakfast each morning.
Our last adventure was biking around the Mantua Reservoir. There was one point on the trail that the view of the village nestled at the bottom of the majestic mountains reminded me of the Davos Lake in Switzerland. I love that even having lived in Utah most my life that we are still finding new gems like this.
