We (I) needed an outing today after being around home all week long. I love hosting swimming parties, but after doing it a few times, my soul needed to get out into nature.

We spontaneously decided to hike Battle Creek Falls with my dad and Hollie and her family. It was the perfect length of hike for an afternoon summer day….just enough to feel hard but not too long that the kids couldn’t do it.

The waterfall was incredibly powerful this year from all the rain, but Blake and I ventured across the river and rocks to see how far we could get. I’m usually sitting out with Madeline, so I really enjoyed doing something adventurous with my big boy.
