And just like that, summer is over. I always get a little sad at the end of summer. It means the children are a year older and we’ll never have that time back.

Blake didn’t care a thing about new school clothes, but his shoes, were a different story. He’s had them stored in a box for months after finding the on clearance and been waiting for this day. He was too cool to be seen with me at the school grounds and as they say the school song and realizing this was his last year at elementary, I had to fight back the tears. Evelyn had her first day outfit and earrings set out for a week before school started. She came down today saying, “Mom, don’t I look like a teacher?” in the best of ways. She wants to be a 2nd grade teacher when she grows up. Her best friend Ila is not in her class this year, so she was pretty nervous today. She’s my tenderhearted and never too cool for me.

Oliver wiggled his front tooth so hard last night and it finally popped out around 9:30pm. He has the sweetest, biggest smile and I loved seeing him saying hi to kids of all grades today at school. He is so good with names and is a good friend.

Eli will start kindergarten next week! Wow.
